Local Workforce Development Areas

Nebraska has three local workforce development areas.
1. The Greater Lincoln Workforce Development Area, which serves Lancaster and Saunders Counties
2. The Greater Omaha Workforce Development Area, which serves Douglas, Sarpy, and Washington Counties
3. The Greater Nebraska Workforce Development Area, which serves the remaining 88 counties in Nebraska

The Greater Nebraska Workforce Development Area (GNWDA) serves 88 counties (which includes all of Nebraska but Lancaster, Saunders, Douglas, Washington, and Sarpy Counties). We provide employment and training opportunities to job seekers that that lead to stable good paying jobs while meeting the needs of local businesses. The workforce area is governed by the Greater Nebraska Workforce Development Board and Chief Elected Officials Board. The Local and Regional Plan is created by the boards and provides directives for administering services in the workforce area. Services to businesses and job seekers are provided by the Nebraska Department of Labor at the following locations: Alliance, Beatrice, Columbus, Grand Island, Hastings, Lexington, Nebraska City, Norfolk, North Platte, and Scottsbluff.
