The Nebraska Department of Labor is committed to providing meaningful reemployment services specific to the justice-involved population to empower them to improve their skills and help them achieve self-sufficient employment. 
 
Justice-involved individuals are eligible for the full range of public employment and training services, including but not limited to: 

 

  • Specialized career assessments and in-depth interviewing
  • Career exploration and guidance on background-friendly occupations and industries
  • Assistance with skills-based résumé and turnaround cover letter
  • Guidance on creating the 30-second elevator speech  
  • Interview preparation and tips on addressing a criminal record
  • Support service referrals to providers
  • Information on employer hiring incentives and tax credits such as fidelity bonds and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit program (WOTC)
  • Connections to second-chance employers  
  • Employment retention services
  • Information on careers, training, education, and financial aid
  • Labor market information
  • Financial and digital literacy resources
  • Application process assistance 
  • Computers with internet access
