The Nebraska Department of Labor is committed to providing meaningful reemployment services specific to the justice-involved population to empower them to improve their skills and help them achieve self-sufficient employment.
Justice-involved individuals are eligible for the full range of public employment and training services, including but not limited to:
- - Specialized career assessments and in-depth interviewing
- - Career exploration and guidance on background-friendly occupations and industries
- - Assistance with skills-based résumé and turnaround cover letter
- - Guidance on creating the 30-second elevator speech
- - Interview preparation and tips on addressing a criminal record
- - Support service referrals to providers
- - Information on employer hiring incentives and tax credits such as fidelity bonds and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit program (WOTC)
- - Connections to second-chance employers
- - Employment retention services
- - Information on careers, training, education, and financial aid
- - Labor market information
- - Financial and digital literacy resources
- - Application process assistance
- - Computers with internet access
