LINCOLN – The Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NCBVI) has outfitted Nebraska Department of Labor job centers with updated accessibility technology. NCBVI has equipped the job centers with ONYX electronic video magnifiers and LyricQ readers. The LyricQs can instantly read a document to someone who does not have any usable vision, while the magnifiers allow users to adjust the size and brightness of screen content.

LINCOLN - The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) announced today that Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for November 2022 is 2.5 percent, seasonally adjusted. The rate is up 0.1 percentage points from the October 2022 rate of 2.4 percent and is down 0.1 percentage points from the November 2021 rate of 2.4 percent. The rate is up 0.2 percentage points from the September 2022 rate of 2.2 and is the same as the October 2021 rate of 2.4 percent. The rate is up 0.1 percentage points from the August 2022 rate and is down 0.3 percentage points from the September 2021 rate of 2.5 percent.

LINCOLN – Grant applications for premium pay and workforce development programs will be available on the Department of Labor’s website beginning Monday, October 3. The Nebraska State Legislature appropriated $10 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for the grants.

The NEworks.nebraska.gov website is back online following an outage impacting the site’s vendor, Geographic Solutions, Inc. (GSI). Among multiple states impacted, Nebraska’s site was the first to come back online. GSI has also restored other state websites, with more to come.

The NEworks.nebraska.gov website is currently unavailable as the result of a national outage involving NDOL’s web vendor: Geographic Solutions, Inc (GSI). GSI discovered a cyberattack that required its state labor exchange and unemployment claims systems to be taken offline. GSI is working around the clock to restore access to its systems as soon as possible.

The rate is down 0.1 percentage points from the March 2022 rate of 2.0 percent and down 0.7 percentage points from the April 2021 rate of 2.6 percent. LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Labor announced today that Unemployment Insurance tax quarterly reports and payments will be considered on time if submitted by February 28, 2022. According to state law, payments and reports are due January 31 each year, but the Commissioner has the authority to allow payments past that date.
