The resulting reports feature detailed information about demographics, skills, education, and job expectations of the area's labor force. Additionally, LAS reports include the types of occupations area employers are searching for and hiring and the types of degrees, certifications, and skills local employers require.

No, you are not required to fill out the questionnaire if you receive one. However, NDOL is mandated by the Nebraska Legislature to conduct the survey and Nebraska workers and businesses have expressed the need for labor availability information. Your response would be valuable in in helping improve the Nebraska workforce and local area businesses.

If you received a survey at your household: This survey should be completed by the adult age 19 or older in your household who will have the next birthday. Hearing from the person with the next birthday is important because it ensures that we get responses from a variety of current and potential workers.

If you received a survey at your business: This survey should be completed by an owner, senior manager, human resource personnel or first-line supervisor who is knowledgeable about the hiring and training needs of this company.

Questionnaires are sent to nearly all businesses in an area with a certain number of employees. If an employer conducts business in multiple industries, multiple surveys may be sent to a single employer. If you received a survey at your household: The Bureau of Sociological Research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln assists NDOL with the sampling and mailing of the household survey. Even if you are retired, self-employed or out of the workforce, we would like your response.
