NDOL Partnering with Kearney Works to Open New Job Center

Release Date: 11/17/2020

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) will open a new job center location at 315 60th Street in Kearney on November 18. The new location will share an office with Kearney Works in Heritage Plaza.  NDOL’s Reemployment Services team will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, with an increased presence planned for 2021.  Kearney Works will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Kearney is one of Nebraska’s fastest growing communities and it’s important to provide our services to the local businesses and individuals seeking employment,” said John H. Albin, Commissioner of Labor.

Kearney Works has leased the office space, located next to Vocational Rehabilitation.  The new space allows for a partnership that maximizes resources and programs.  “This partnership is critical to expand the resources available to employers and job seekers. Kearney Works has struggled to meet demand and we are thankful for the Nebraska Department of Labor for their support in adding their services in Kearney,” said Elizabeth Roetman, Kearney Works Executive Director.

The combined offices will assist with job search, training and education programs, career assessments, mentoring, resume preparation, and other reemployment services, including unemployment benefits.  NDOL will also assist with utilizing the neworks.nebraska.gov website, workforce training grants, apprenticeships, and Veterans’ services.

The joint location was established thanks in part to Mayor Stan Clouse and the City of Kearney. “Bringing the two entities together in a partnership will provide a workforce solution customized to meet the needs of the community.  I want to thank Commissioner John Albin, Reemployment Services Director Bradley Pierce, and Regional Manager Randy Kissinger with the Nebraska Department of Labor for their support,” Mayor Clouse said.

Appointments at the new location are available by calling 308-455-3007.
