Monthly State Unemployment Rate Unchanged Since June 2015

LINCOLN- The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) announced that Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for June is 3.0 percent, seasonally adjusted.  The rate is the same as the May rate and has been unchanged since June of 2015. 

“Nonfarm employment remains above one million filled jobs,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin.  “Employment levels in leisure and hospitality and financial activities reached new highs in June.”

Nonfarm employment grew by 1,773 over the month and by 12,753 over the year. Private industries with the most growth year over year were leisure and hospitality (up 5,727), education and health services (up 4,846) and professional and business services (up 1,008). Month to month, the largest gains were seen in leisure and hospitality (up 2,724), mining and construction (up 1,950); and professional and business services (up 846).

The national seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June was 4.9 percent, up by 0.2 percentage points over the month and down 0.4 percentage points from the June 2015 rate of 5.5 percent.
