Nebraska Monthly Unemployment Rate for July is 2.7 Percent

Nebraska's preliminary unemployment rate for July is 2.7 percent, seasonally adjusted.  The jobless rate is up 0.1 percentage points from the June rate and down 0.6 percentage points from the July 2014 rate of 3.3 percent.

 

“Once again we see a substantial increase in nonfarm employment compared to a year ago,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin.  “We saw new highs in information, leisure and hospitality and other services.”

 

Nonfarm employment in July was 998,779, up by 7,831 compared to last July.  Private industries with the most growth year over year were education and health services (up 4,195), leisure and hospitality (up 2,596) and other services (up 2,006).  Month to month, the largest gains were seen in other services (up 497), mining and construction (up 481) and leisure and hospitality (up 473).

 

The seasonally-adjusted national unemployment rate for July is 5.3 percent, unchanged from the June rate and down 0.9 percentage points from the July 2014 rate of 6.2 percent.
