Nebraska Recognized for Unemployment Appeals Decisions

LINCOLN- The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) Appeal Tribunal has received the Performance Excellence Award in the small states category from the US Department of Labor. Legal Counsel and Appeals Supervisor Katie Thurber accepted on behalf of NDOL October 21. The award was presented by Gay Gilbert with USDOL, Administrator of the Office of Unemployment Insurance, Employment and Training Administration, at the 2015 National UI Directors' Conference and IT/Legal Issues Forum in Albuquerque, NM.

“NDOL is grateful for this recognition of the Appeal Tribunal and the agency’s efforts to make sound, timely decisions relating to unemployment insurance benefits,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin.

According to the USDOL website, Unemployment Insurance State Performance Excellence Awards are given to the top performers nationwide in key areas of state unemployment insurance operations.  The Appeals award is given for “timely and high-quality appeals decisions.”  Nebraska previously received the award in 2012.
