Hiring Our Heroes Fair February 18 at Bellevue Lied Center

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Nebraska National Guard and other sponsors to offer a Hiring Our Heroes Fair for veterans and spouses Wednesday, February 18 at the Lied Activity Center in Bellevue, 2700 Arboretum Drive.  The hiring fair will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with an employment workshop at 8:30 a.m.

 

“The leadership and commitment that veterans and their families bring to the table are huge assets to employers across the state,” said Governor Pete Ricketts.

 

Over 80 employers are registered for the hiring fair. Veterans and spouses should register at hiringourheroes.org/events.  Walk-ins are welcome.  The hiring fair and workshop are free to both employers and veterans.

 

“We are happy to be partnering with the US Chamber for another Nebraska Hiring Our Heroes fair,” said Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin.  “These events bring together a diverse group of employers with a wide range of positions available.”

 

The workshop will focus on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill translation, and interviewing.  Veterans and spouses should register for the workshop at hiringourheroes.org/events

 

The hiring fair and workshop are being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs, the Nebraska Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Nebraska Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Goodwill Industries, Hero2Hired, the University of Phoenix, the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the American Legion, NBC News and other local partners.

 

This is the 15th Hiring Our Heroes fair to be held in Nebraska.  In addition to Bellevue and Omaha, hiring fairs have been held in Lincoln, Norfolk, Alliance, Holdrege, Papillion, Beatrice, and Grand Island.  A hiring event is scheduled for March 25 in Grand Island.
